Under the directions of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Technician is responsible for the daily and scheduled preventative maintenance of certain systems, repairs minor modifications and construction of the Jail and performs essential job functions to ensure a clean and safe working environment.

Maintenance Technician responsibilities are:

  • Coordinating activities and ensuring that tools, equipment and other potential weapons are secured and accounted for each work area is searched before, during, and after the maintenance work period,
  • count/complete inventory of equipment/clean the maintenance officer area, inventory and check all maintenance equipment at the beginning and end of each shift,
  • report all missing or damaged equipment to the Maintenance Supervisor; know emergency evacuation procedures for the work area,
  • conduct on-going security inspections of the work area looking for identifying, reporting, and taking corrective action on all overt security breaches,
  • perform preventative maintenance function for:
  • HVAC systems as scheduled (change filters, clean coils, check operation of exhaust fans, monitor components for coolers and freezers), maintenance function for slider doors and security locks, plumbing systems as scheduled, (apply cleaner for shower drains and urinals, change water filters on kitchen equipment, clean and pressure wash sumps), roof systems, complete assigned projects for maintenance section as assigned, participate in training programs/sessions as required; perform any other work duties assigned by the Superintendent or his designee.
