The New River Valley Regional Jail is seeking a Medical Technician that is career-oriented and enjoys working with people, personal challenges, and the opportunity for advancement.

Full and part-time positions are available. The full time schedule is from 2PM-10PM.

As a valued member of our medical team, our Medication Aide, under close supervision, assists in performing routine duties to include medication administration, inventory control and storage of pharmaceutical items.

Your responsibilities will be:

-Preparing and administering prescribed medications to patients under the supervision of a licensed LPN/ RN, and in compliance with all Facility policies and procedures and Pharmacy Board rules and regulations governing the administration and documentation of medications

-Adhering to all Facility policies and procedures and Pharmacy Board rules and regulation regarding the administration and documentation of narcotic medications

-Performing medication administration responsibilities while adhering to all safety principles

-Documenting administration of medication on the Medication Administration Record (MAR)

-Documenting medications not administered on the MAR, and the reason for not being administered.

Qualifications

Education: High School graduate

Experience: One (1) year related experience in a medical environment preferred

Licenses/Certifications: Certified as a Medication Aide and plus, but not necessary.  We will train the right individual
